Combating Antisemitism Fund

In 2021, as in previous years, Jewish Canadians were the most targeted religious group, reporting 487 hate crimes, an increase of 47 percent from 331 crimes the last year and 306 in 2019. Working against hate, and promoting Jewish life, is what we at the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg do. This year, for the first time, you can direct your gift towards the struggle against antisemitism by donating to the Combating Antisemitism Fund.

Here are just a few ways the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg (JFW) made an impact in the fight against antisemitism:

Advocacy

  • Advocated for May to be designated Jewish Heritage Month by the Province of Manitoba.
  • Advocated for the Province of Manitoba to endorse and adopt the IHRA definition of antisemitism as a means to identify and combat antisemitism.
  • Advocate at the civic, provincial, and federal levels to advance Jewish concerns in the public arena.
  • Maintain positive relationships with local and national law enforcement to ensure the community's safety.
  • Foster meaningful relationships among diverse ethnic, racial, religious, and interest groups.
  • Working in partnership with the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), ensuring Jewish perspectives are considered in Canada’s public policy discussions.
