In no other stories in the Talmud do we find a portrayal of a marriage like that of Bruriah and Rabbi Meir. Bruriah, the daughter of Rabbi Hanina ben Teradyon, was a rarity in the Talmud, a woman known and respected as an acute rabbinic scholar, yet also feared in rabbinic debate for her sharp wit. Rabbi Meir, her husband, was one of the most brilliant and most controversial rabbis in all of the Talmud. Together through tragedy and triumph they shook the foundations of the rabbinic world. What happens when two strong willed intellectual giants are married to one another? Come and learn as we study the stories of the most unique relationship in the Gemara.
